Just wanted to pass along a little tale with my Beretta A-400 Xtreme.

Bought it new a year ago. Put a season on it and a 1000 rounds through it.

Was cleaning it about two months ago when I observed a hole and a crack just behind the breech bolt pin/cam pin. Anyway long story short, I sent in photos of the issue to Beretta. They said one of their gunsmiths had to look at it (party line). They sent me a free UPS ground label. Took two weeks for the gun to get to Maryland for repairs, but not really their issue.

Today I received the gun back from them. They said there was nothing wrong with it and the hole blown in the bolt was normal wear and tear. The crack went unnoticed by the gunsmith.

The bummer was two months for the "repair", I sent photos of the "normal wear and tear" before sending in the gun; they requested the gun anyway and all they did was waste everyone's time. And the Beretta storage box was crushed in shipping.

I think most of this could have been avoided, but all communication with Beretta is done via the internet and by logging on to their Beretta Support website. Out of sight out of mind. Before buying a used A-400 inspect the bolt.

The A400 is Beretta's worst semi auto to date, i struggle to understand how the manufacturer of guns of the quality of the old 301s 302s and 303s could turn out such guns today. I have said it many times this A400 will haunt Beretta, they just can not pull off a stunt like this and hope to get away with it. :(

Same thing can be said about Remington and the 11-87. They are selling their name and not quality now, but because of the good quality guns of days gone by people will always buy them.

The first run guns had jamming issues. Replaced our first run guns and they had solved the issue.

Other then the jamming in early models it is the best shouldering, smoothest shooting gun I have ever shot and I own/have owned other Berettas. So not sure why it will haunt them. I do want to try the A300 though, as it looks like a tweaked version of the 3901 which served me well for years

Well then Trev! Just remember to post on here when they replace this second lot of A400s you have, that's if they admit anythings wrong with them.

I know of three in the shop right now, all with bad trigger groups of various issues. I cracked the foreend on a new one the other day just putting it together. Beretta is tripping on their dicks right now.

That is odd because Marsh Fox's buddy was handed a new one out of stock by a Berretta dealer when he had a problem.

Marsh Fox posted,

"He took the gun back this morning , the shop replaced the gun from stock no questions asked they have apparently sold 9 this last 12months and this is the second one they have had with choke problems".

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I consulted with a high volume California gun dealer (Callinfowl you will know the one its name starts with K) that has an onsite gunsmith and they specifically recommended buying the A400 over the Versamax based on problems they had to deal with.
They said that the Berrettas were by far the most reliable of all autoloaders they sold .
I bought the A400 Unico Xplor and it is superb to look at, smooth handling, light recoiling, patterns well, and cycles anything I load. I would buy the same gun for sure.

Thats not Beretta USA customer service we are talking about is it, tell them the whole story then.. :l:l that's GMK. There is a difference you will hear the self same breakages faults occurring jams etc, but the GMK customer care is although not Remington standard it is still very good.:)

I tend to support the local guys, ultimate camo, under armor, mcutcheons cider. Beretta is a 20 minute ride from me and i wound,t buy a bag of chips out of a snack machine if they gave me a dollar. A400 FALLING APART, 92's falling apart, the conception of the ARX100 {double U tee eff} I won't miss them when they move to tennesee.
