2/28/16 three man limit of walleye-Saginaw river, michigan

    Warm spell melted the ice on the river and tons of people got out jigging for walleyes this past weekend. We managed a 3 man limit(24). Biggest was 6.5 Lbs and we had a few other 3-4 lbs fish as well. Good times!

    Nice fish guys!!!!! Next time you do that, can you keep them alive and dump them in our lake here on Oahe!!!:pra We could use that size again like we used to have here for our average.

    The Dnr recently upped the # we can keep off saginaw bay & river to 8 per day and lowered the minumum size to 13". It used to be 5 per day and minumum 15"...we just have TOO many walleye! They want to thin the herd to help the perch population. I'm all too happy to oblige. Jigging for them in the river couldn't be any easier- just find a spot that's marking fish and make a drift over it- repeat. Just about every drift puts a couple fish in the box
