Last batch of crane jerky is in the dehydrator. Time to go back to work till we get some weather....

On a side note saw lots of birds 8 hours north of the boarder to central North Dakota. Hardly anything after that.

Need the moon to start. Soon as it starts to come back in, these little fronts will be bringing down waves. Like clock work, this weather trend is going to break down right around this full moon and we are going to see a grand passage that you only see every so often.

Worked way too hard to kill 30 ducks last weekend in the basins. Same boat as kaiser, now back to work until it picks up other than hunting in some 80 degree temps this weekend for the MO opener. :l

Saw plenty of birds leaving before shooting time, but they're alive for a reason. Finished out a couple limits with a bonus speck but nothing came easy...except the speck

Targeted woodies knowing there wern't many ducks around (east zone 3). Only saw a few flocks (2) and none were to be found to jump. Group south of us got into a flock of something big though.

Great being out. So it begins (or will begin when the ducks come back). Sure is nice being able to wake up at 530 and go hunt.

Posted the wrong place; killed 4 Widgeon this morning, and that one bunch was all we saw. Plenty of local geese could have died if only a week later.

That's how it works with the local geese. Best time to get em on the river is zone 3 opener. Don't take em long to adjust once they start hearing volleys.

Hunted the platte in central nebraska this morning, and should have stuck with the stale birds in the basins. Only saw 2 small groups of ducks, both high flyers not interested. Only heard 1 volley of shots up the river, then a single shot down the river.
