    Good Day,

Let's start a post for season updates and pictures.

    I have been out twice.

First duck of the year was a mallard drake!

    That has never happened before.
    Second was a drake widgeon!
    Then a nice Blue Bill.

Let's start a thread I always enjoy hearing from the boys in the desert.

I haven't hunted ducks much this year but took my Rottweiler out with me one day. She loves to play fetch in the backyard and I have had her retrieve quail, dove, ducks, and a pheasant at home in the past so figured I would take her out and see what would happen. Well never having her around water much, she was a little tentative about getting in. Once she got wet though it was game on. I thought she might be a little gun shy as well but I was wrong. She stayed right by my side sneaking in on trails and had no reaction to the gun shot, just watched the birds fall. Her first retrieve was a mallard drake and second was a wigeon drake. While it is a little unorthodox, I think I will take her a few more times this year and then do some proper training in the off season and see how it goes. Every morning when I leave for work now, she is jumping up and down thinking she is leaving with me. I might have me a bird dog in the making.

Here is a picture with the drake wigeon.
