    I don't think it's a 50/50 cross but either his granddaddy or great granddaddy had a green head. He has some soft green glow, the white bars you noticed, and tail curls. Good eye.

    Nice bird, it'll be interesting to see what the band info is.

    Post up the band data if you don't mind. interested to see where it came from my guess is Va.

    Banded 2/4/15 near Seneca Lake, NY. Apparently that's not far from Ithaca where Cornell and the huge college of ornithology is. Probably not a coincidence. Wonder what he was doing up there in early February?

    And that's why I don't pick lotto numbers. I would say trying to breed was why he was there in February. Crazy that that bird is already here thought they moved more I the weather.

    We don't have many black ducks here (my local area) through summer. Sure there's a few. Typically once November hits though, we see dozens to hundreds hanging out in a few certain areas. They seem to show up with the earlier migrants and are the only ducks that stick around for the whole season.

    I highly doubt that this many blacks are raised in this part of Virginia.

    I got the actual certificate the other day... it was actually listed as a mallard x black duck
