Got invited to sit on an X this morning before work. Even had some wind first thing and not one bird even gave us a look. Several thousand were in the field last night and they could care less about us. I'm at work now, but last I heard the guys hadn't shot anything still.
Didn't have time for the decoys this morning but we tried doing some pass shooting/ jumping small flocks. Found three feeds, got permission on first and the whole group got up as we were still walking out from the truck. Next group was about a 100 next to a berm that would have been a fun sneak just to see them that close. Just couldn't track down a landowner. Third group could have got permission on but didn't even try as the whole group was out in the middle of the field with no hills. Ended up pass shooting a single is all but it was an absolute beauty of a adult. Trying the decoys on my pasture pond on Monday morning. Forecast shows pretty windy but I'm hoping it stays around 15. Hoping some tired migrators want a drink mid morning after fighting the wind.
We did pretty good yesterday shooting 22. Saw a good amount of birds for the area I hunt and a fair amount of juvies.
Almost as quiet as when nobody was shootin ducks last season, been huntin the rwb plan to leave here shortly and see what's around for birds down there
I need to make it back down to the basins after the masses leave one of these years again. It's been 10 years since I've hunted down there. Hard to drive 6 hours though when I can drive 45 minutes to two different areas.
