We had a really really good waterfowl season. Lots of that success is due to having a close knit group of like minded guys who are willing to put some miles on there trucks and boats. And who are willing to spend that time and effort to make sure we stay under birds. We hopped all over the southern half of the state but it paid off.
The only rough part of the year was teal season. Between the dry weather, those late Aug. cold fronts, then the no fronts during the season it made for a difficult season. This pic was from the last day of the season finally got on a couple birds.

I will have to say over the last decade plus I have been very spoiled by the dove hunting I have enjoyed at a certain farm. Always plenty of birds and always a good time. My son turned 4 this past November and he got to come out for a good afternoon shoot.

In June was lucky enough to be added to a blind at our local mud hole. I was even luckier it was a good blind. A little more black and white than green dies out of this hole but still a great time

Got on some pretty good shoots out of there early in the central zone any front that came thru you got pretty much bet on having some fast action the next morning

It was also a excellent place to take Mason on his 1st duck hunt. By far my most enjoyable hunt of the year. He had a blast too. A chip off the old block.

Right before thanksgiving my season got put on hold for a week or so because this little bundle of joy arrived. Pretty lucky my wife understands my waterfowl addiction and I only lost about 4 or 5 hunts

I did miss a few good hunts over that week and it slowed down some once I got caught back up. Heard lots of complaining during December about the lack of waterfowl but we were doing just fine.

This hunt happened so fast someone forgot to take there head lamp off

With this dry year they were really getting into some thick hard to get place. If you could get in there with them and hide if made for some great days

One of the slower hunts of the year but definately a memorable one. Got this young man his 1st greenhead the day after xmas with his brand new 12 ga the smiles says it all

Then the cold came. It was some pretty serious cold too, tough on the body and equipment. But it can really concentrate the birds. Almost felt sorry for them

Gave the ducks a break on day and chainsawed a hole in a pond ice was close to 8 inches threw an ice eater in and showed up the next morning. The honks didn't disappoint

Last day of south central a bit of a warm up and a sloppy bean field. Hunt didn't last very long.

Dakota turned 11 this season. Her drive is still unmatched however her body aren't what they once were. I limited her to easier hunts once or twice a week. She still picked up her fair share

But with her being 11 a full time replacement is in the works for next year and hopefully many to follow

Unfortunately this is how the blind at the mudhole ended up after the ice and wind joined force. We new this was a good possibility when we got the spot so we will have plenty to keep us busy in the off season
