Only 246 Days until the opener...................

The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission met yesterday and the following have been proposed for the 2019-20 Waterfowl Seasons. Thought you would be interested: On Thursday, the commission settled on a 60-day duck season divided into three segments with two splits. The proposed duck segments will run Nov. 23-Dec. 2, Dec. 11-Dec. 23, and Dec. 26-Jan. 31. Note the framework change to a Jan. 31 closure, which is a Friday this year.

As expected, AGFC is hoping to thin crowds during Goober Week.......

In addition to the overall season dates, staff recommended the days in which nonresidents could hunt Arkansas wildlife management areas with a Nonresident WMA Waterfowl Hunting Permit as Nov. 23-Dec. 2, 2019; Dec. 27, 2019-Jan. 5, 2020; and Jan. 22-31, 2020. These dates are set in blocks of 10 to prevent nonresidents from losing hunting days when purchasing multiple 5-day permits.

I wish Florida would do something like this for turkeys.

No. I wish they would keep the nonresidents under control on public land. Gotta get those slam birds. Pain in the arse.

I don’t care one way or the other. If it’s 55 degrees F in Cedar Falls, IA on 1-5-2020, we will have another terrible season. I have no control over what is done. I refuse to stress over it.

I said I wouldn’t get stressed. I lied. The most important thing is to keep ringing the cash register. We cannot control farming practices. We cannot control the weather. We cannot control what other states do. We can control the pressure so let’s keep pressuring the hail out of the ducks. The hail with our kids and grandkids. It’s all about the here and now and the beeping of the register and swiping of the credit card. Hail let’s ask the Feds for 90 days and 10 ducks.
