My 2007 Ram 3500 with 6-speed and 5.9 Cummins with 286k is getting a bit long in the tooth, time to decide what to do, sell or keep it.

First step was to see how the motor is holding up.
Performed cylinder leak down test, blow by test and compression. All pass with good results.

I do a lot of towing 26' & 20' boats and surprised at how well the truck-motor is holding up

Oil analysis also came back good so decided to keep it for another couple years, maybe hit the 500k mark

If my little Colorado can roll on into mid 300k's surely that Cummins can! Of course the rest of the truck is another story...:yes

Your front end will fall apart before that engine does.

Agree....Front end fell apart years ago, replaced it all with year 2010 parts.
Beefier "T" style instead of the original "Y" style, been great for 200k now.

Keep driving or fork out 65K on a new one.

You might be the only driver that might catch my buddy who is at 503K on his 2000 7.3PSD

    Good luck

I believe with proper maintenance and normal driving, that engine can go 1 million, minus a lemon here and there. Those were some durable motors. Too bad the EPA decided they were bad for polar bears.

Mine was an 01. Once I figured out the normal maint stuff it was awesome except the front end. I got out of it while it was behaving and got what I was asking so I am still happy with that decision. It was a hell of a duck truck though.
