Me to it only solitifies my postion .
If he loves me I have no worries
Do you think that just maybe Moses is making a generic categorization? In this case, the bat is categorized as a bird because like birds, it flies and is similar in size to most birds. If you did not know that it was a mammal, it would be natural to call it a bird. Moses referred to the bat as a bird, for so it appeared to the people. Therefore there is no contradiction. But hey, what do I know, I still like to call a whale a fish!
Hammer, what do you think the intent of that scripture was anyways? It wasn't intented to teach bird biology. The intent of that scripture was to clarify to the Jews what was ceremonially clean or unclean to eat.
As for you continuing arguement about others being perfect like Jesus; do we really need to beat that horse again? Even you understand scripture better than that Hammer!
Settle down big fella, just pointing out a error in the bible and you jump all over me. If you published a book and said a whale is fish do you think anyone would say there is error in your book.
Would they be correct in saying there is a error in your book?
What about Zechariah?
Did not look it up and choose not to.
I have been told here I have made un forgivable sins against god.
Only unforgivable sin is to refuse to accept His Son as Lord and saviour! There is still time, Come to Jesus today He loves you!
A bat is a "mammal" according to man's taxonomy. However in scripture a bat is grouped as "things that fly".
The taxonomy or classification of animals is made up. God in his humor always seem to throw a wrench into man's attempts to classify the animals.
Mammals that fly.
Birds that don't fly.
Birds that swim.
Mammals that lay eggs.
Fish that give live birth.
Mammals that live in water.
God simply calls them animals that fly, humans in their neurotic need to classify call them birds, except bats, emus and ostriches don't fit. So rather than drop the classification that doesn't work, humans just make an exception.
So in translation, when man's classifications are inserted, you end up with some anomolies:
Whales are fish.
Bats are birds.
Just because some dorky humans decided that all "birds" have feathers, lay eggs and fly does not make it a hard and fast rule that the universe must adhere to.
It just cracks me up when humans think they dictate reality.
Your arrogance as a human is showing. All man's knowlege is a mere drop in the ocean. Humans know so little it is hardly worth mentioning.
Hardly a show stopper, Hammer.
So are you saying a bat is in the bird family?
Are you teaching your children a bat is a bird?
Do you want this type of bible stuff in the public classroom?
I am just asking these things to get to see your frame of mind.
