A Prairie Grouse of another flavour

    _DSC7530_1.jpg _DSC7553_1.jpg _DSC7455_1.jpg _DSC7687_1.jpg _DSC6926_1.jpg Not your typical Prairie Grouse. Last year there were 4. This year they are down to 3. They carry more weight on the Lek now that they are adults. From a Male Sharptail and Female Prairie Chicken

    Wow...Those are really phenomenal shots. What a beautiful bird...those purplish colored air sacs which they display are really cool looking.

    Nice. Catching a grouse flying is not any easy task.

    I was just talking to someone the other day who was said they had seen some of the hybrid crosses between a sharptail and prairie chicken. I guess there is some concern about the cross breeding and what that may mean to the future of the chicken population in MN.
