Before you guys start throwing out insults or the worn out short bus statement think about it. People on this forum have been bitching about refuge too high shooting, lack of hunter concealment, poor calling skills, too many flippers, getting crowded on or just the general B Nugget crowd. How about turning one of the refuges to a 20 gauge only hunting area. No flippers and 2 3/4 inch 20 gauge shells only . Have blinds set up only in areas that shoot well by hunters selected that know the refuges well where birds traffic only. Not dead blinds with no shooting set up by the state or feds. This might bring back the skill of concealment, calling, decoy placement and bringing the birds right into your decoys before shooting. The ballistics on these shells would require closer in shots and might stop 70 yard plus refuge shooting. A lot of private clubs have gone this route to stop the stupidity that is seen at refuges all the time. This trend of making harvesting wildlife has been seen elsewhere in such areas as using only barbless hooks for certain types of fishing, blind restrictions for hunting antelope with a bow , excetera. Your thoughts if you think this is this would be an interesting way to go about it.

It would be a great plan but will never happen 12gauge lives matter. In all seriousness my dad and i have started to shoot our 20 an 16 gauges alot more because of the challenge and we really enjoy it plus a 16 and 20 is alot easier to swing fast on teal tje come wipping in at 100mph

If you can't stop people from shooting 80 yards with a 12 gauge, what makes you think they'll be any different with a 20? Then they'll just scrape at 70 yards instead? You can't legislate intelligence or ethics. You want those club rules, just join a club.

You can shoot a 20 gauge on any refuge in the state now, and shoot 2 3/4 in shells. How about the guy that wants you to only shoot a bow. Do they get their own refuge also ?. I have a sweet little 32 gauge and I should get a special refuge also. How about a special season also. We do that for bow hunters.

Stop trying to fix something that can't be fixed.

Hey whoa, just food for thought, not trying to fix anything. This is a discussion board. My simple thought is to address things that have been long term reported problems here that have ATTEMPTED to be dealt with at private clubs. Whether or not these clubs have succeeded or not, please chime in by members of 20 gauge clubs. By the way birds at 70 yards with a 2 3/4 inch duck load probably will lead to a lot of expensive failure and failure is a good way to stop certain behavior. We all probably want to get back to duck hunting , not just duck shooting.

Ask for a 20ga fuge then have blinds????? Oh and only where birds traffic, are you ok tonight?... There would only be 5-6 blinds. Why blinds are you to young to know there were no blinds at one time?.. Hunting was great.
20ga never stopped anyone from scraping.
The best thing would be surpressors on all guns.:yes:yes:yes

They should only allow "real" duck hunters on the refuges

Is your 32 a side by side or stack barrel?
