Adding hens to scoter rig

    Just finished a set of scoter sleds and painted them flat black. Am also finish some extra big foamers. I would usually just paint them flat black but think I'll make half as hens. In the Neuse River I see more hens than males. I've seen a dozen come in and all hens, I also see many more hens coming into the broadbill rig.
    When I hunted on Long Island Sound I used to add hen broadbill to the scoter rig. Worked well. Maybe I'm just lazy but I've always painted my scoters flat black. While at it I'll re paint half The buffleheads as hens. A lot of sex changes on the way.

    They are scoters, drakes or hens only matter to you so do what makes you happy because it really doesn't matter to the birds.

    Outrageous , you don't need hens use all drakes for better visibility so the birds can see your spread from a distance..a Black 15" x 15" black plastic flag works on those black birds. put it down once they make a bend towards you.
