The only wild turkey im shooting today came in a bottle...
Went out this morning on some private land and heard em all over about to come off the roost then nothing. Don't think they Wanted to hop any fences if they didn't have to and were probably hened up already.

They were very quiet here this morning. Not a peep came from the roost trees and thought they were not even there.
They flew down and still no noise.
They had plenty of hens to play with.
I think they have been breeding now for over a month so a lull for now but that will change.

Birds were noisy all day in my neck of the woods. Roosted birds last night. Got in early. Witnessed a how to ruin a guys hunt who scouted clinic put on this morning by a couple guys. My favorite was, flank the roost tree at 60 yards with your headlamp on while calling terribly every 15 seconds in the gray light. Had some words with that guy after the birds flew off the roost to the next zip code. Second favorite was the two guys in hunter orange vests.'

Birds have been going through my backyard every evening. Got out there at 1:30pm, got skirted by a bunch of hens with 2 toms in tow about 4. Packed it up at 4:45. Went to town to grab groceries and when we got back there's 4 longbeards sitting where our decoys were.

Will get after them again in the morning.

Birds were silent and not around on a piece of property I hunt, they were active days leading up to the opener but I only spied a hen after shoot time. Long day in the blind. Headed back out now, we'll see what today brings.

    Favorite type of day ever!

    -nobody ever :dv

Better luck next time man... I didn't go today. Got a report though. Same hens that stood among us yesterday stood there today. They acted like they had been breeding for weeks. The way they went to him, they knew what time it was. Maybe you'll get to see it soon.

The very worst thing about public land is when the public shows up at your spot doing ridiculous stuff.

My favorite donkeys of the day. Note the chartreuse powerbait jacket. IMG_1202.JPG
