Use to love s/s guns. First was a Dakin(spanish). Then a Browning with, I think, 30 in. barrels. Had it for many years and hammered ducks with it. Used to handload for it in the days of lead shot with 1 7/8 oz shot #4s . Steel came along and shot factory ammo in it, with no problems from use of steel shot. Always had failure to fire problems with the second shot but loved it so much I still used it as my go to gun. Finally after many years I went to a Beretta 391 and never looked back. Received as a gift once a Winchester model 23 combo 20 and 28. It came with 25 in barrels which were too whippy for most hunting. Do like that 3rd shot, comes in handy sometimes when finishing off cripples.

Oh yeah I almost forgot. My son asked if he could have that Browning s/s so I gave it to him. We were hunting Sac. refuge several years ago when a big fat old greenhead made an appearance. Steve raises up and fires and misses his first shot and the second shell doesn't go off. Being the gentleman that I am I dropped it. It was banded. Made me walk back home and scratched his name from the will.

SxS not my everyday choice but I try to make a few waterfowl hunts each season with either my Win mod21 with Briley thinwalls or my cheap Savage/Fox that will handle 3”.

Something special about being in the marsh with a sideby.

Years ago I tried to commit fully to a double, but I’m addicted to the third shot.

I used to shoot a 20 ga Parker on a club on Grizzly I. using 7 1/2 shot. It was deadly, but then I always waited for the nearest shot possible

You can add me to the "used to..." crew. Been a few decades, though.

A.H. Fox for uplands and dove. Love that gun. My wife got it for me about 25 years ago. Vintage turn of the century. It is my only side by side.
