Liked his version of "good time Charlie"
Leon Russel was another one of those artist that was wildly popular in the Lone Star State, but mostly unheard of elsewhere. Hank Wilson's Back was one of my favorites.
Couple gooduns from LR
You guys ever heard of John D. Hale?
John D Hale Band?...yep
Folks on here on the AR forum are alot more "in tune", than the citiots on the MO forum.
Here Is JDH covering one of my favorite Fred Eaglesmith tunes......
We was in the same class in throughout school. You know he never did any singing or pickin back then but, he'd drink a few beers with us. Not a real popular cat, if you know what I mean. He turned out to not be to shabby of musician. I worked for his folks while in school, they had an exotic animal ranch.
When he first started, he's playing to a very young local crowd (wild would be an understatement) and a told him late at night, (when everybody's rowdy) to dig out some DAC Nothing Sacred and Xrated. He did and it was good times. Back then we kind of exposed him to alot of Jerry Jeff Walker, Marshall tucker, and Elvin Bishop.
How's bout Mason Proffit, Two Hangmen?
A KSHE classic.
