It's been awhile since I carved anything, a long while, but last week I started working on a decoy urn I had to a friend. He and his wife wanted a hen mallard that was a rester/semi-sleeper type of bird, and one that could sit on the mantle and go into the water once a year. So, after a long hiatus from hacking on wood, this is where I am as of this morning. Now it's time for a lot of brush strokes and some time on the airbrush blending. I think it should turn out just fine. Regardless of the outcome, it's been good to be back at the bench. Hopefully now I can start getting caught up on things.
