I would like to build some backboards. What's the best design? Could I see some pics please?
I would be interested too. This year with sunny weather the birds were real shy from our shadows so we ended up lying on the ground in whites. Next year i am getting some decoys on longer stakes and going low profile and see if that helps. Too many sunny days this year.
This is a pretty simple design. I have 8 of them now and they have proven to be very durable over the years. I made these wider then probably necessary, but they are ultra comfortable. Last year I had some "skirts" sewn that snap on the sides and back. This eliminates the shadow that these create. I am going to have some more permanent ones made by a guy who does upholstery.
Can only upload two files at one time, so here are two more pics.
Last picture. Hope this helps, let me know if you have any questions.
Any ideas on dimensions on backboard itself and pipe stands under it? And what did you use for padding under the material?
I think I made them 24"X 36" and after having used them for a while, I could have made them smaller. If memory serves me correctly, the PVC kick stand is somewhere between 12 and 16" long. The shorter they are, the less height you can get out of them, but then again you don't want the board sticking up very much. I went to the fabric store and bought 1 1/2 foam. I think I used 2" foam on the seats (not pictured) for added comfort. I think I have about $35.00 tied up in each one of these.
Thanks a lot!
