Banded Birds 2017-18 season.

    Yes, they are using zip ties to mark experimental captive goslings, and some escape. They are supposed to be used for the study, euthanized, and ground up for body composition studies. I started putting zip ties through the plastic tarsal band when I'd trap nesting hens on the day their goslings were hatching so that we would reweigh them again ~30 days later at banding.

    First banded bird
    Banded last July in Fallon NV, Hatched 2015 or later. Shot today

    Crazy thing is today 3 bands were shot including mine all with people near me

    Banded mallard too young to fly, June 2017 near woodland. Shot today near sac refuge.
