One of places I go is electric only, so I'm using a 55lb minn kota, it won't break any speed records, but it does the job. I'm also thinking this could work on the back waters of a river, and then I also have the push pole/paddle setup if it gets to shallow. I'm excited to see how well it does.

Great thing about an elec motor, you can run them 1/4 of the prop out of the shallow water. I use mine when we hit the shallow water and tilt up the outboard. I'm inkling to get a mud motor. Almost there.

I looked into a small 3hp mud motor kit built off a predator motor, but i think it might be just to long and bulky on this small boat, Im sure it would push it fine but I think the handle and the overall length would just be to much. next year I will be looking for a new boat, jon boat style.

could even look at one of those little air cooled outboards. I think they have self contained gas tanks too

right around 125lbs, i made a small cart that sits under the back end so i can drag it to launch it with out damaging the bottom, i think its a sweet little set-up, should work well.

An old seedless Johnson/Evinrude would be a good fit for that boat

Be careful if you are using it in any current, they aren't too good in high winds either as far as moving in the water.
