We had a black attorney come to our DU banquet and bought just about everything...
They busted a guide out at the metro about 10 years ago. The feds and AGFC set up a recon mission for a few weeks. They watched from behind trees at the launch, took pictures of what they were doing. Watched them in the woods, noted who was carrying what, and doing what.....
In the end, they never saw any money exchange hands, but had enough evidence to convict for guiding, and other charges including 'contibuting to the deliquency of a minor' (or something). Basically, the circumstantial evidence was this, with pictures and everything...
1- 'guide' sends helper (16 or 17 years old then) to launch boat and get it ready.
2- 'guide' pulls up with a load of 'guys', carrying only guns
3- 'guide' and helper exchange boat for truck, and 'guide' takes off in boat with guys and helper
4- in the woods, helper sets up decoys
5- 'guide' does all the calling, with a little help from helper
5- and helper retrieves all birds, while only guys do the shooting
6- helper picks up decoys,
7- back at ramp, 'guide' and guys get in truck and leave, while helper loads the boat on the trailer and takes off.
Be vigilant, green jeans may be watching you out there!
Dang. Reckon I'll keep bringing my boat over when I hunt with ISers whether I need it or not. Hate to get my friends in trouble.
Who said we were friends....
Who said I was talking about you?
Why bring a boat.?
Who runs their own boat on a guided hunt? I would just hate for someone to get a bunch of extra questions just because I was in the boat. You know the drill, the longer they hold you up asking questions the more likely they are to figure out a reason to write you up.
I found an old 10 ga. shell under the seat of my boat last week. No way would that sucker load or fire, but you know what would have happened if a GW in a bad mood would have seen it. It had been there for at least five years.
Some ole boy got a ticket last year for an extra shell, scared and rusted up so bad you couldn't tell what kind it was
Matt G...."But sir, the law says you may NOT be in possesion of lead shot while waterfowl hunting. It does NOT say shooting it."
