One thing I learned is don't be in a rush. Wait till daylight. Just no reason to try to be there at first light. Many of best late, frozen hunts were in the pm. The birds simply moved much better.

 

Haven't seen any ducks, but boy are there swans around in Dorchester. Too bad we can shoot them.

 

Seeing plenty of ducks...but I wouldn't mind if the weather would warm up a little. I like ice, but not this much ice! Lack of high tide is a another issue. Stay safe.

The last 10 days have been the most birds I've ever seen hunting. We've limited 3 of 5 days I've been out and have yet to get skunked. I've hunted the Pax, Chester, and Potomac before the ice made it impossible. Shot redheads, pintails, gaddys, and blacks awesome mixed bags of ducks and bigger groups of gaddys than Ive ever seen. Like I said the ice has almost made it impossible now to find open water but if you have it I bet you're killing birds in good numbers.

 

I think we've lost some geese compared to what was here 3-5 weeks ago. Personally I'm seeing more ducks this year than I have in the past 3-4 years. Enjoying that 2 bird black duck limit.

 

I have seen more ducks since the freeze.. I think there is way more geese than last year. All my spots are froze up right now so I guess goose hunting it is...

 

Go look out at the bay. There is not much water that doesn't have ducks on it.

 

Shot woodrows and cans today out of the same blind....I'm a fan of diversity.
