Want to thank all the Folks who donated, bid, and won these items to support my Family. My Wife, and I are very grateful, and we're again back at the Hospital this week. It's been very hard on Lilly cause She's getting the high-dose chemotherapy, but it's also been tough on Her Mom, and I because we can't plan much, or continue to do our normal stuff like before Lilly's diagnosis. We have to take things day to day. The protocol, and treatment dictates everything in our lives now, and we're obligated to adhere to our Doctors & Specialists orders totally.(Hard for me! I just hear/see rules, and I'm reminded of all my time in Detention, or the Penalty Box...)

Lilly is doing well, and is on the road to complete recovery, but it will be a marathon to reach the goal. All the support, encouragement, and contributions have been a big positive impact, and has allowed us to focus on Her care as priority one.

Really impressive campaign by MASTERS to organize this, and I want to thank the Refuge,,, unitedwaterfowlers FL, and especially. The Members & Site Owners have been so gracious that it's impossible for me to adequately thank everyone in a way that really expresses our gratitude.

Lilly just had Her 6-Month birthday this past weekend, and we're all anxious to get things back to our normal routine in life. The most important lesson in all this if anyone asked me is to appreciate the time, and experiences with your own loved ones. Life can be like a vapor, or a passing shadow. Gone, or drastically changed in a second, an hour, or overnight. I sincerely hope everyone can extract some value, or something positive from this. We don't want this to be a bummer, or sad story. We have very much hope & faith this will all be in the history books by the time Lilly is a Toddler, and again we're so thankful for all the blessings, and lessons along the way.

Thank you to all who have been involved publicly, or otherwise!!! We're asking for continued prayers Lilly will tolerate Her treatments well, and physically feel well. That's the biggest thing of all. Here is Lilly having fun hanging out with me on Her 6-Month milestone last weekend. "When the going gets tough, the tough get going." I tell Lilly this sort of thing all the time, along with "keep your stick on the ice, and God is good."

Haven't got Her playing with carving knives, shotgun bullets, and polyester resin yet. Just regular Baby-Toy stuff. Some of the other Kid-Patients, and their Sisters in our Hospital-Unit say She's gonna be a girly-Girl anyway. She has quite a few Fans, and has become a favorite for many of the MDs & Nurses. We love Her so much. Thanks again for all the support!!! - Derek, Laura, and Lilly...

P.S. Hope everyone has a safe, productive Duck Season. That your shells stay dry, no duds, and your feet keep warm... :D - Bender

Bender, great post and loved seeing the picture of lilly. Be strong and know a lot of people who you never met are pulling and praying for you and your entire family. All the best.

Very true and well said Bender. :tu

Masters did a great job of putting the benefit together.

We all look forward to Lilly's full recovery and then seeing her on her first duck hunt. Best wishes from Central Texas.

I know you have my email information as we had/have been discussing some hunting arrangements but as a father of 9 year old son who was diagnosed and went through surgery, then 8 LONG weeks of radiation (3 hrs away from our home) and many years of side affects after you have my ear and my support. This support is also available to your wife as well, to talk with my wife, too. I am sure you won't call right away, but just put it your back pocket and know its there once some dust settles and you can think about more than just making it through today. As we struggled with helping Alex, we found ourselves with a lot of unanswered questions and not many people to talk with because most parents of other children had "normal" kids.

Just shoot me a pm or an email.

    Prayers and thoughts.

Bender I hope all works out for that little one. I can say over the years that I have found myself reflecting back to spending more time with my two boys and they come first. I spoken with you on the phone for hours and it was great to hear from you you about all your hunting stories. We will catch up again when time permits. Be safe and if she needs to follow up at Moffitt in Tampa FL our house is open for you and your family to stay. 813-766-7253

Derek, your attitude through all of this has been admirable. I'm amazed at how strong you've been in a situation where you have every right to feel low. Keep the faith brother! My thoughts and prayers are with Lilly and with you and your wife.

    God Bless!
