Best Animal To Start With

    OK, I'm really interested in starting taxidermy, so forgive al;l the stupid ?'s and 1/2 dozen or so threads that are gonna be coming soon.
    Whats the best animal to start working with? Rabbit pheasant fish squirrel cow etc?
    Any help is appreciated:)

    The best bird to start with is a barn pidgeon or pheasant ..both are pretty forgiveing of stress. Fish northern or walleye are very tough and scale retaining.. Critter probably the tree rat or coon...

    My first bird was a crow, very easy mount and you can use it for a decoy for hunting crows too.:D
    I did, but ended up shooting it, wish I had not now:mad:

    My taxidermist tells me the best thing to learn on is the plain old barn pigeon or a crow. Now if he would just show me how to skin them I would be set!!!
