Hey Fellas let me ask you? I'm wanting to buy an metal automatic dog feeder. The one I looked at in Tractor Supply was just way too thin and flimsy. Where can I get a good heavy duty one? Thanks guys

I read through the descriptions and it says most dogs will get used to self feeding and only eat what they need. Is that true? I think my dogs are part goldfish and would eat until they popped.

As long as it just puts out a certain amount of food at a time, it should work well.
Purely self-feeders (food always available) are not a good idea.

Itd really depends on the dog! Some dogs will do well on self feeding and others tend to gorge themselves! My son's GSP has a full pail of food at all times and does just fine. My current labs would be like yours - they eat what is available!! I have had labs that would eat what they need but not many of them! LL
