I have never seen a black duck up here in MN but there must be some around cause there is a town 30 min. south of us that is named Blackduck, with a big statue of a black duck when you drive into town.
The only banded mallard I have shot so far was a drake, from Alberta, Canada, it was about 7 yrs old. Did you find out where your mallard was from Kimmie? Do you get many banded birds? My husband was jealous as he has never shot a banded bird.

It was the first banded duck or black duck I've ever killed... You would have thought the banded one was dipped in GOLD :l
Funny thing was that when I shot him it must have just stunned him there for a moment. Another group of ducks was flying in as my husband (he's a man of few words, go figure!) looks down and says "Your duck is about to walk off", picks up his gun and starts shooting! Here I am throwing my gun on the ground and chasing this duck downhill, straight into the pond water as he stays one step ahead of me! I finally caught the rascal and stepped on his head... So much for the mount!

Anyway, Here's the information they sent me back on him-

    Banded 8/20/1998
    Hatched 1998
    Banded near Elmvale ON

Killed him on 12-23-04 off one of our ponds. Was a neat Christmas present!

    Great Pics By the way!

    :)

    A couple more...

The first isn't that great...but it was a three-man limit.

The second is of Mark and Eric, who came up to Washington to experience a "different" type of hunting. We got our limits fast that day...and as always...a mixed bag.
