Pretty much. She knew how to "fish" before. I introduced her to the SoCal style of fishing and taught her that, along with a few of my buddies in the industry. She's got a couple handfuls of trips under her belt. 3/4 days a couple 2 days and a 5 day.

Our original plan for the honeymoon was freelancing in Saskatchewan, but she decided that was going to be a grind and wanted to do a long range trip instead. But yes, she caught a gigantic freaking yellowtail and blew the 100 pound mark out of the water on the yft

It looks like you guys made the perfect choice. The way the talk is going the Mexicans will eventually shut down the long range fishery. Canada will let us hunt for a longer foreseeable future.

So you handed her the 170?

So here's the breakdown of the trip. Fished Monday -Thursday. Am for the YT and PM for the YFT. Nothing wide open, but all quality. Most of the YT were 25-40, most of the yellowfin were right around 100 pounds. The sharks were horrendous on the tuna grounds. I fed 2 to the sharks myself, along with a couple tackle failures (found a nick in a Fuji guide that seems to be the culprit then that setup got retired). I ended up with a 120 and a Smaller grade yft. Kristyn got the 170 and 140 ( she completely did that herself). I think the boat ended with around 45-50 yft.

The yellowtail hits were around 30-40 fish a day. Dropper loop bit the best, but I try not to pooper loop. We caught 9 yellows a piece, with one being that absolute donkey.
