Spent about 8 days helping a buddy try and fill a sheep tag last week. Super tough hunt, with average high temps above 100 degrees, smoke filled skies half the time, and a fire that saw smoke jumpers, helicopters, and tanker planes for a week right in the main hunt area just the week prior to the opener. Tough tough. Buddy had one opportunity on opening day, that was it.
Crazy, because I helped another buddy with the same tag last year, and collectively we found over 20 shooter rams.
Here was the stud that "got away".
    I guess around 165".

If you've never seen the stones on a sheep, here you go.

Some random scenery pics, this is where we watched the show on the opener. Sheep was dead center in the rock pile, the approach was from the small rock pile on left. We were 1400 yards away, taking pics through spotters.

Some of the country we looked around in.

IMG_0311.JPG More random scenery, and pics of ewes and small rams. Great hunt, just not the outcome we all hoped for.

Hope to have that opportunity some day. Probably will never happen.

That is a stud ram you got glassed up, too bad the situation was fubarred. That's tough country when it isn't 100 degrees, can't imagine it what that heat. Not many folks have friends good enough to help out like you did - well done.

    Nice.

A bighorn was always a dream hunt. Applied for many years and finally threw in the towel.

Lots of truth to the sheep hunting motto. "Takes a young mans legs and an old mans money"

    I have neither now :l

Beautiful ram. Shame you couldn't get it worked out. I keep putting in for points and crossing my fingers.

    :)
