Black duck bill

    Working on a Black duck, an need more olive in the bill. What colors do you use to achieve this?

    For day-to-day work I use 2 colors, a base layer of paynes grey, and a top layer of yellow ochre. The more payne's grey used, the darker (olive) it looks. Here's 2 examples, top one has very light bottom coat, 2nd one has more payne's grey......darker olive for a hen or early season drake would require more of the grey than these 2. Just one way to do it........

    start out with diver grey then mist over with waterfowl base yellow,,gives you a very nice olive color. It's what I do to get that pale greenish olive color on drake mallards. By the way that 1 legged standing black is over the top.
