Blue Wing...

    JUST ABOUT THE MIDDLE OF CALIF.
    This bird has to be the best looking blue wing I have ever seen..I did not kill it but
    I have been lucky enough too kill 14 in the grasslands over the years, BUT this birds is crazy nice !! I really like how the cresent has started down the back of his neck...and deep under the chin.... I wonder how old he is or was would be a better question..!!!

    Nice! I have never gotten 1 but I watched my buddy whack one last season. Hopefully this year...

    Boy, that is a really nice one for November. Yesterday I saw a drake spoonie up close...don't ask me how :rolleyes:...and I though to myself, he's very far along in color for now. Maybe something is a little different this year.

    Now that I think about it...this sprig was really nice also. Not much tail, but good color.

    Yes, very good color for this early. If you look at the head of a mature, drake, Blue Wing, it has a kind of a purple luminous hue. That last photo shows some of that. It usually does not show up much in photos.

    I really liked how the black cap or crown looks on this bird..nice deep color....there was puple in it.. but I did not work sun light for color very hard when taking photo..
