hey guys, i am in a toss up on which way to go.. Last year i boat blind hunted out of my 1648 and i had three flush mount pedestals mounted down the center of my boat. It worked good but at times the seats got in the way of putting out decoys and decoy storage. i have been considering getting rid of the flush mount pedestals and going to a movable type seat. Like a pyramid base or something similar. i like the idea of being able to move the seats around while hunting/fishing, but i dont know if im going to like how much room they take up. Any advise from guys who have used one or the other or both?

below is a picture of my current set up

These chairs from Rogers are really good since they fold up and you don’t sink down in the seat. I don’t know about you but any chair i sink into for hunting causes 2 issues, I fall asleep and miss everything or it’s a pain to stand up when teal zip by unannounced.

We use 5 gallon buckets. You can buy the lids with a padded seat.
put your gear in it and you don't need a blind bag. keeps your stuff dry and you can move them around or out of the way if need be.

we sit on flipped over milk crates with a throwable cushion on top, the milk crate double as storage and keep everything more organized. I like being able to move the crates, so if it were me I would go with the second option you posted up

We use buckets as well. But we use 6 gallon or 100# cholorine buckets, they sit up a few inches higher and are easier to get off of. They also hold most all necessary gear and keep it dry.

Metal folding chairs work great for us. Pretty comfortable with a back, portable with in the boat, fold up, store easy and cheap.

I have a setup like you do but I also have seat bases mounted on the front deck(Crappie Spider Rig arrangement) Move the seats to the front deck when traveling or picking up decoys.
