In much of today's churches borrowed theology is the norm. We have pet phrases like "Romans road", "accept Jesus" or "pre/post trib". Language that displays a form of theological study.
The bible warns us about people who have a god like quality but deny His Word. Borrowed beliefs is worth the price you paid for it. Many fall under a certain teacher to warrant their own lack of work. They are spiritualy lazy. Rather than putting any amount of thought into what they believe they place their trust in someone else's work. This is not Christianity. Paul himself commended those that refused to believe him. He even states that he would rather be considered a liar so that God could be made true. The Pharisees tried this with the demons and they got beat up.
So who do you follow? Is it Luther, Calvin, Francis, Smith......? Do their testimonies line up with God's word? The Word became flesh so that you may believe. Consider carefully how your theology compares to the Word of God. If it don't you will pay with what you borrowed. There is one Judge and he will judge you by His Word.
