Mallard, pintail, and goose butt-up decoys have been around for ages. Now I see that GHG has green and blue wing teal butt-up feeders out this year. Who of you would buy, and if you did how many would you put in your spread? Most of the teal I see feeding just surface dabble, but maybe they butt-up feed more than I know of.

If you run mallard butts, how many?

I don't think a teal knows a mallard but from a coot but to be honest.
I feel the visibility of the bigger mallard is probably more of a factor than species.

Another toy for people to buy. I think I'll pass. I run some mallard butts, easy to pack. I'll usually run 2 to 8 of them.

About as important as late-season mallard decoys. But to each his own the visibility of those would be terrible

The teal butts are about the dumbest idea I have seen in a long time.

I use a few pintail drake butts on a jerk string because of all the white and they move much more than standard decoys but those are the only reasons. I also made a few wigeon butts but just for the white and extra movement like the pintails.

An 8x10 piece of white dock foam on a jerk string works better than a decoy.:yes:yes:yes
