If you’re a California resident, the State Controller’s Unclaimed Property list was just updated recently. It’s worth 30 seconds to check if they’re holding any money for you - I found $59 from Home Depot. You might find more, you might find less, you might find nothing, but if you find a few bucks... you’re welcome!

Just some quick little hints: enter your full last name, maybe the first couple of letters of your first name, leave middle name and city blank. Cast a wide net because I’ve had friends who had their name butchered (Kym instead of Kim) or got money from really old addresses - one of them moved to Texas 10+ years ago and he found $650, another one found almost $2,100. Most of us seem to find fairly modest amounts but still better than a poke in the eye. The State Controller apparently took in almost $800 million, so that’s a decent chunk of money.
