I was hunting in Wisconsin yesterday. This is what happened. I had a big Tom coming in at a good pace. At a hundred yards he stopped, did a 180 and hustled off. At that time 7 Jakes showed up. A couple of them fanned out. After a while they wandered out of sight. 15 minutes later one of them came back and went right up to my decoy. He strutted around my decoy for a minute or two. Then the Tom came back. I'm sure it was the same one as before. He went right after that Jake and I was able to take him. He was a huge 3 year old. Did the he get run off by the flock of Jakes the first time? He wanted a piece of the lone Jake.

I'm no expert but a couple months ago there was a flock hanging out around my office that had one tom and two jakes. When the hens started to get with the program I saw the two jakes teaming up and chasing the tom around.

That tom hasn't been seen in a while, but the jakes and hens are around. So i would say yes

I watched a group of jakes attacks and darn near kill a tom a few years back.

The biggest gobbler I shot came into the decoys with a group of about 10 jakes! He was missing a bunch of feathers and appeared to be getting thrashed on a regular basis! LL

Think of it this way, jakes are 15-year-old boys and longbeards are men in the prime of life. Now, at 30 a normal man has little to worry about from a kid of 15. Kid walks up and says "give me your woman or I'll whip your @$$." You would laugh. Six of them come up together saying the same, and you are probably getting your @$$ whipped.

    Yep!

Buddy of mine had to dispatch a Tom that was attacked by a pack of Jakes. They messed him up pretty good, busted his leg up, he was in bad shape.
