Yeah I was not happy to be driving to work this morning. Definately want to be on the water somewhere, but have heard nothing but disappointment from the people who I have talked to.

I was off yesterday but decided to work instead. I didnt want to fight nor be around that strong south wind, either.
    I went out today, with
    1) high hopes
and 2) to ascertain the damage the wind did to blind and decoys.

Well, #1 turned into only one duck and #2 turned into rearranging / untangling decoys that scattered into the next county ( and I have used this lake for 35 years and know that long line is needed when the winds kick up and why each decoy has a 2+ pound weight on it ). The brush on the blind survived, but looked like my wife's hair when she has just woken up in the morning....blown all over heck and pointing every-which-way. Thank goodness the strings and wires didnt break or their would be a naked blind out in the lake with no brush on it.

No Kyle, you didnt miss squat today, I am sorry to say. Maybe tomorrow we'll get em, or the next day, or maybe the day after, or maybe..........

It was bad today. We didn't see many birds at all.
Killed 2 bills and that was it.Saw a few mallards
but they were very high and just passing thru.

When the wind dies down here it's gonna freeze up.

Yep, Jon, the rumor is that they have to come in riding piggyback because there are already so many mallards in the hole.

My AGFC weekly report says only about 1/3 of the holes / areas have water at this point in time. Confirmed by friends down there. Them there ducks may have to come in riding triple piggyback to find water. They need rain big time down there. Lots of ducks hanging in Southern Missouri because of it.

Are you serious? SEMO has some ducks, to say we have lots is a huge overstatement. It's been very slow for 3 weeks and this morning we have lower temps and a nice NW wind but, still few ducks. The duck parks are holding some birds but, they're very stale moving at night. It's very dry here as well.
