And Sessions is doubling down on this evil practice.

Customs agents seized a lawful gun owner’s truck over five bullets.

On Sept. 21, 2015, Gerardo Serrano was driving from his home in Kentucky to Piedras Negras, Mexico, when his truck was searched by U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents at Texas's Eagle Pass border crossing. After finding a small ammunition clip, the agents took Serrano's truck from him.

Customs seized the truck under the laws of civil asset forfeiture, which allow authorities to take cash and property from citizens upon suspicion of criminal wrongdoing. Because it happens under civil law, no criminal conviction — or even criminal charge — is necessary for authorities to take property they believe is connected to a crime.

    This could get ugly.

If the plan is to return the accumulated forfeitures, what will be the source of money to fund that?

Probably we'll find one set of chumps getting paid by another set of chumps while Congress smiles and says they did something.

    That's predictable and not stunning.

Civil asset forfeiture is a drop in the bucket when compared to "progressive" taxation.

Anywho - one of the "tools" in the anti-poaching "toolbox" is seizure of guns, etc. Does that go away?

    Is all civil forfeiture "wrong"?

Is civil forfeiture a misnomer given that the property can be returned?

How does civil forfeiture differ from a bail bond i.e. we hold your stuff until you appear?
