Defections of seriously ill civilians and soldiers. Dead people washing up in boats on Japanese shores. High level NOKO officials executed last week. Kim appointing family members to legacy leadership positions.

The sanctions thinking they can economically and physically starve NOKO into submission. A country that has a history of letting its people die of famine.

South is the only place he has to go. Especially if his people start acting up and he needs to start a war to serve several purposes.

    Anyway...

Kim Jong-un 'executes' ANOTHER official over a launch delay at North Korea’s crumbling missile test site just five days after 'killing his former second-in-command'

    • Unnamed executive was the director of Bureau 131 - in charge of Punggye-ri site
    • It's thought execution was handed down over delay in nuclear missile test launch
    • Man killed

I guess a reason for KJU taking action doesn't have to be very substantial.

That's the scary part. He's acting without rational thought or reason. The other issues are what we see. How much are we not seeing?

He's willing to let his own people starve and killing his own people on whims. He's losing control and perhaps even has lost control of himself.

He sounds like he might have been in a playboy lifestyle of sex and drugs and now he's reaching the ultimate conclusion to that.

Seoul and that now huge U.S. military base is just a sand wedge chip shot from a short range nuke missile then followed up with a million screaming North Koreans closing that 25 miles in less than a day.

If Kim decides to go all Las Vegas last stand of the little man we could lose several thousands of troops and civilians in hours like we've never lost before.

Huffing and puffing is one thing...all bullys do that...but this NOKO guy has started killing for petty reasons his close associates and letting his people suffer so much the Japanese are finding skeletons on Ghost ships washing up on their shores.

Trump may have the same choice FDR had. Remember...FDR tried sanctions with Japan first and tried to work with other countries. And...boom...went Pearl Harbor.

Thing is the Japanese were sane and knew their actions, without miracles, would cause their azzes to eventually be kicked all over the Pacific.

Human life is unbelievably cheap to Asians. American lives are probably cheaper and this guy is starting to make Hitler look rational after the assasination attempt on Hitler in his bunker.

Some people are incapable of empathy to the suffering of others. He's getting cornered and only sees self and his self has nukes and millions of goose stepping screaming brainwashed for generations "Banzai" auto functioning hominids.

Hard to put up much of a fight with limited fuel and troops whose bellies are eating their spines and feeding tapeworms the size of garter snakes.

Every day he sits on it, he’s weaker. Launching a missile just seals the deal for him. It’s a siege, and he’s got 2-3 rocks to throw, then his gates fall down. I think he’s sensing that. Just an angle.

    Points respectively acknowledged and considered.

    Counter points:

Desperate people do desperate things. Hitler had very little fuel left then he sent tanks and ~half-a-million men in a desperate mid-winter attempt to capture the Port of Antwerp. 19000 U.S. troops were killed in ~six weeks.

Unless...what the news is reporting is just SOP for the NOKOs and not extraordinary it appears Kim has to strike south. The only consideration why he may not is his intent to let millions of his population starve in typical communist eliminating food demand since they can't increase supply. Then he holds power with his military he is feeding. It's been done by communist regimes before.

I guess it is a Schrodinger's cat paradox. He either will or he won't...unfortunately, we're not the ones to lift the lid of the box...Kim is.

Well put, but (as you pointed out) he has to strike south, conventionally, and there’s no real surprise to be had in where he chooses. 70 years ago, it was easier to hide men and equipment and intent. Then again, if they can live 3wks on a pound of rice and some dog knuckles, they can move light. The pace of conventional war has likely leapfrogged them, though.

Yep...the way to stop them cold a hundred yards south of the DMZ would be to set up a 150 mile wide KFC buffet complete with fried chicken feet.
