Seen on the Weather Channels website.
Very cool. It looks like there's a couple of farms it barely missed.
Risk of living on/near a volcano, I guess. Pretty amazing.
I've been there but never had a desire to live there.
This reinforces that sentiment.
And this is how it has the people there feeling....It sucks that natural disasters cause people to have to defend their property from thieves, although apparently the guy getting drawn down on was his neighbor.
Saw that on the news last night. The homeowner did pop a few caps over the guy's head.
Wonder if they'll cut away the lava when it cools where that road was, or build a new road over it?
"No. You may not 'borrow' a cup of sugar."
I'd love to witness this first-hand. Seems like lots of others would, too.
Maybe some of both plus nothing at all.
I saw some footage where they were trying to move some off a road with a too small piece of equipment.
Some time back, there was a story on PBS where a homeowner had to use a car and a motorcycle to get to his house. Old lava flow blocked the road where he switched from car to motorcycle for the last leg to his house (over a mile). He was the only house on the road past the lava blockage.
Since that whole island was created by lava flow, I'd be willing to bet they will build over it.
