Yup...dead just like the hunting has been since the middle of November. I mainly hunt geese but the times I’ve gone after ducks have been just as poor. I’ve been hunting the same areas for over 20 years. November started about as good as it ever has but once the weather moderated it has been the worst since 1999-2000. If this cold snap doesn’t change things I might just hang it up for the year and take up coyote hunting.

It's pretty rough I can't remember a Dec this low in numbers but I've only waterfowl hunted sense I was 14 so I'm sure it was tougher!! Let's hope Jan late season is better....

My marsh is in the process of freezing up (1/2" - 3/4" thick ice over 95% of the water yesterday morning), and duck numbers are way down. Looks like there won't be many more days of decent duck hunting left this season on this WMA.

November was great, December has been terrible, hoping for a better January. It is C-O-L-D up north so maybe they’ll migrate. I really think all the big hearty Northern mallards are still north of us.

I'm beginning to think we'll all be saying the mallards are still north of us when February rolls around.
