Curiousity ? on hunting rifles .........

    Every hunting show I watch and they're hunting big game . The hunter shoots a bolt action rifle and always seem to struggle to chamber another round . Are semi auto rifles basically obsolete ? Do they jam ? Personal preference ?

    I don't notice that, but I guess it happens. Lots of things going on. Probably paying too much attention to trying to see if they made the shot.

    Certainly not. AR's are a pretty good example of that.

    Yes, yes they do. But, not very often, and usually not without good reason.

    I think that plays a lot into it. Plus, generally speaking, Bolt Actions are more accurate. There are always exceptions.

    I think some of the jams you notice are hyped up people short jacking the bolt.

    Bolt actions are more accurate. The way they are built.

    It takes practice to be able to smoothly chamber another round in a bolt gun, especially in a pressure situation. The average guy doesn't practice enough.

    I've got a new Tikka that I just won, and it has by far the smoothest bolt I've ever encountered.
