I'm going to pipe up for him. It's a Drahthaar. She has a huge amount of energy but very well behaved. A great breed.

Technically Wirehair and Drahthaar are the same thing. "Drahthaar" translates directly to "Wirehair".
The difference between the two is the registry. Drahthaars are FCI registered and managed by the breed club in Germany. The must be proven hunters (tests) of fur and feather, water and land before the can be bred.
The Wirehairs is pretty much AKC and here in the US is basically an upland dog.
