It spells nothing but doom for the delta and its farmers, not to mention the ecosystem. They ever have figured how to keep smolt out of the delta pumps, try to keep them from three 20' diversion tunnels! They don't even touch on earthquakes.

This administration should be a Barbie dream date for environmentalists. A democrat dominated assembly and senate should toe the green line for the Eco- Terrorists that wish to dismantle the Delta as we have known it. The problem is they really don't want to restore the delta, see Jerry Meral at save the delta . Com. These guys can do way more damage because they rule unopossed and they have the complicity of the drive-by media.

But what have they done, other than damage the status quo.

We as sportsmen need to examine the drivel that is proselytized by these groups that tries to limit our freedom and offer some stupid safe harbor for hard cases that have no rights in a common sense based system.

Hang tough dudes, most folks agree with us!

Very disappointed in our state and federal government on this project. Another over budget whale ans waste of money. As others have stated, it is a waste of money and will have a major effect on the delta watershed. Not to mention displacing a long time high school friends packing shed, ranch and original homestead.

Water is GOLD in Kalifornia and unfortunately So Cal wants / needs it to parch the needs of millions down that way. Still wish we could somehow split this state up and charge (profit) off the needs of them. Kinda like our corrupt politicians do on us and the influence of unions!!!!

But what amazes me the most is how little publicity this is getting by local media and conservation groups. No opposition or anyone that seams to give a *****.

They are trying to put lipstick on the Peripheral Canal that we voters soundly rejected.
The big enviro groups are being silent perhaps because they got some perks in other back room deals with the Resource Legacy Foundation like the MLPA's.

This project has a much larger capacity to transfer water to the south which project proponents say will only be used when there is a clear surplus of water such as winter storm periods. I say BS on this as seldom do you see a water transfer project that does not end up being run increasingly at full capacity over time.
For Deputy Director Meral to state "BDCP (Bay Delta Conservation Plan) is not about, and has never been about saving the Delta. The Delta cannot be saved." is a classic exposure of how nice sounding names are given to destructive projects. Knowing the political and financial clout of project proponents probably gave Meral the personal comfort to make such a statement.
Though normally bureaucrats of Meral's ilk, formost concerned about retirement protection, look around the room before making statements like that.

What it is really about is making the already rich richer. Just another step to privatizing water to sell to the highest bidder. Get the water when it is at its cheapest and considered "surplus",.................. store it in your private "water banks",............. and then sell it at a huge premium. Even if it being used to meet fish and wildlife needs,......... make the agencies pay top dollar in bidding against the SoCal water agencies. Sorry Delta farmers, you just happen to be in the way of the already rich and powerful.

And yes,......... some of the largest greenwashing "environmental" groups engaged in California are getting a slice of the pie through the "ecological restoration" the public will be paying for.

Sounds like a sustainable plan to me,........... so where do I sign up to pay for it? What could possibly go wrong? :doh

The simple fact is that the water is in the north and the people are in the south. The only question is "how are they going to get their water? The tunnels won't trap fish because the fish don't go that far up river. The tunnels are a lot of money but are cheaper than desalinization plants. And the farmers need the water to feed the world. Most of the worlds almonds and lots of your vegetables come from that water.

I wish we didn't have to pump but I wish I could win the lottery too. The only way to stop or slow down the pumping is for a plague to wipe out half of the states/worlds population or make desalinization feasible. To think otherwise is nobel but naive. Kind of like peeing on a forest fire.

Who's going to pay for that dam thing? The state is very close to fiscal collapse and they want to build this. GOOD LUCK. :no
