Anyone know anything about the Debeers diamond lawsuit rebate? Is it for real? The reason I need to know is my son bought his fiance a very expensive engagement ring and he could sure use a little extra cash right now.

I haven't heard anything about it since I turned in the hefty sum of what Hubby's spent on the two rings I wear all the time... If it pans out we might all get a buck fifty :nutz ... The atty's will come out well though, I'm sure.

I do know that the more people that file claims, the less you will receive.

    Thanks for posting :fp

The legal team will get millions and the consumer will get pennies. The alternative would be to let these companies do what they want and that can't happen.

I do know that in no way does that answer the man's question. Is it taking money out of your pocket if he asks this? Maybe it is, and your greed is why you are angry. Dude lighten it up a little, and get down of your pulpit. Oh and no I don't have any answer for his question either:tu

ok fine... I'll answer the question...

Yes it is legitimate.... You have until May 18th to file your claim

The refund is expected to return between 6% and 59% of the purchase price. The more you paid the larger percentage you will recieve.

Initially the refund percentages are as follows
    Mixed Stones Jeweler < $200 6%
    Mixed Stones Jewlery > 200 14.5%
    Dimaonds Only < 200 10.5%
    Dimomnds Only 200 - 999 27.5%
    Dimonds only 1000 - 5499 32%
    "" 5500 - 9999 38.5%
    "" 10,000 + 45%
    Loose diamonds 59%

In other words, from the initial report, if you baught an engagement ring for 5000 you will recieve a check for about $1,600.

The total amount De Beers will pay is capped at 132,000,000. If a lot of people file claims, the %ages will be adjusted.

If your award is less than $10, you will not get anything due to administration costs.

Now sorry for the greed.... but I've purchased quite a bit of diamond jewlery in the last ten years.... I WAS due for a good chunck of change until this made mainstream Internet. I should have known better.... like mentioned "Hope in one hand, crap in the other.... see which one fills up first"

I can't find the paper work that you need to fill out. Does anyone have a link for it?
Do I just need to get my original receipts?

    Thanks
