This year especially. On two different occasions where I had the day off I spent the entire day in the blind with the dog. I find myself wanting to do it more often.

Don't get me wrong, I love hunting with my kids and buddies, but man was it relaxing to sit with the dog.

That is because they are in the duck blind or field hunting.

I'll go along with that and most of my friends know it.

Your pet gives you unconditional love, most people don't.

Hunting with the dog alone is peaceful. She has her job and she knows it. I don't push her to be the perfect soldier. Go out and explore while I'm setting decoys and setting up the blind, then its work time. Stay in the blind and wait to be told what to do. Theres something just so grand to command and then watch your dog do a retrieve with just you and the dog. Watching them work in their element, something they wait for all year long. Then theres their snoring after their day of work as they lay in their bed recounting the day in dog dreams.
