    While I'm no duck elitist, there are a few ducks that I generally give a pass...including the Ruddy. However, when this guy decoyed a few weeks back, I was unable to extend the usual courtesy. Certainly not a rare duck, just the first I've seen with any coloration during the season.

    They sure are neat to see in the late spring. That is one local duck that I have not connected with.

    I take long hard looks at rafts of ruddies because I've taken 4 in color during season. I also found 1 for a friend.

    image.jpeg Several years ago on the last day of the season I look over at the tailgate of the guy parked next to me and saw this dude! We shot some birds that day but this is the only one that I took a picture of and it wasn't even our's.

    Very cool. Only ever seen hens in one spot we've hunted.
