    John Morrow,

John Morrow's duck calls are the most desirable from a collectors stand point. These calls are of the Ark. style. There is speculation that Mr. Morrow or his family was originally from Ark. Mr. Morrow made calls in the 1930's the 1940's and the 1950's. When Art Beauchamp won the Champion of Champions in 1955, he used a John Morrow call. Mr. Morrow was the caretaker of the Greenhead Duck Club of Sebewaing, Michigan on Saginaw Bay. It is easy to recongnize a Morrow call once you have seen the graceful form of his barrels and the uniqueness of each one of his stems. He made checkered and plain barrels. These calls are rated extremely rare and desirable in any collection.

My information come from "Duck Calls and other Game Calls" by Brian McGrath

    Nice calls Coot.

Can you give us a value on the calls?

It always amazes me to see something that alot of folks would pass over at Yard Sales, and the value would be significant.

Plain Barrels $300 to $500. Checkered Barrels , plus real early calls $500 to around $850 plus. You never know what you will find in a yard sale. :D

I sold the Marsh on E-Bay. There was a yard sale in Samburg a few years ago. There was a old wooden call. They wanted $25.00 for it. Paid for the call and took out in a fast walk:yes. It was a 3 duck Tom Turpin. Value $700. :grvn

You ever take any of the "duck call of the week" calls out to the blind, just because...as Rex puts it? How do they work on ducks these days. i thought maybe since the tone is different than what they usually hear, maybe the birds react better. Kind of like fishing with a bait that no one uses any more and catching the "uneducated" fish.
