It doesn't take a lot to wear them out! This was on the way home from the foot Sunday.
nice picture b-duckin
The sleeping on the way home is classic.
now we need a video.....
I finally got around to posting some pics. It's been a hectic month since season closed. It's really hard to complain about the season as much as I would like to. Hunted 34 days which ain't bad considering I don't hunt on Sundays. My oldest boy made 19 of those and due to the sometimes hard work and slow days we spent a good many of them just the two of us. I would take last years water ANY year, but the time with my boys can never be replaced. Numbers wise we had a good year, actually a few up from last year. Mallard count was down from last year, mostly due to the fact that we were forced to hunt mudholes and road ditches too much of the season. Had some good field hunts thanks to friends and much to my dismay, spent more time at the Scatters than I have in years. I think it's the first season I have been down there in three years.
Opening day, hunted an almost dry reservoir. I now know why folks up north like hunting Canadas so much, never seen anything decoy so easy. Small group flew over and I started making an awful racket with a snow goose call and you would have though it was a Canada mallard hunt with a dozen spinners. Dumb, dumb birds!
A good rice field hunt.
Teal and greys, not to be discriminated against.
More like it.
We're getting there.
Some of my best hunts always end up being cloudy days in the timber. Overall best hunt of the season and one of those rare days literally everything just worked. Big bunches of ducks, all of them touching down. We needed about six more guns that day.
Oh well, it was a limit.
But this one's a whole lot better.
Another field hunt, but a good one. I still haven't got all the mud off my boots from the field hunts this year.
Me and my oldest on another cloudy day.
I do like the sunshine though.
My favorite pic of the season, maybe one of my all time favorites, and at the Scatters at that. Wasn't much of a day for ducks.
My oldest and a few ducks from the Scatters. Hunted this hole at least half the days we went down there, never had anybody within 300 yards of me, lots of days, a half mile.
Scatters? or not the Scatters? That is the question.
Pretty good day in the rice. Nothing like a blind with a roof in the rain.
Oh well, it's how the year went.
Finally got a little more rain, got back to hunting where I like to hunt.
I kept telling that boy, the mallards will fly later.... Live and learn I guess.
Back in the rice. Bring on a freeze, snow, and an afternoon thaw...
Be still, be still, I SAID BE STILL!! cut em.
Last day of the season.
Anybody know how long till opening day??? Maybe we should just leave the boards in .....
