Is anybody going out this weekend goose hunting?

Hatch was poor this spring but we have around 75 geese landing in an oat field we harvested and are now spreading manure on.

We are going to go out Saturday morning with low expectations and hope for the best .

Worst hatch I have seen...well probably in my 22 seasons of waterfowl hunting. There are basically no geese around whatsoever. We have several fields that traditionally would be numbering around a hundred each, as far as birds feeding at this point, and the most we’ve seen is like 30.

Numbers seem low up north this year as well. Seeing darn near as many cranes as geese right now. We’ll probably go this weekend but not too excited by the numbers ..... yet. They will show up soon.

Hope everyone has a good time

We have around 100 cranes mixed in with the geese. Cranes stay all day geese cone and go.

Hatch was pretty worthless and late in west central MN and eastern SD. Got 2 family flocks on my slough and my buddy back home said the young ones still weren't flying last week. Guess it's doves & walleyes this weekend.

Hatch must have been bad in a lot of places. ND reports hatch was 25% of normal.

We managed to bag three. Field we we're setting on has been seeing 60-75 birds every day for the last two weeks. This morning we only saw 13. 8 of them hung 50 yards outside our decoys with four swans. 5 came in right at 10:30. Two landed with the live geese and three came right into our decoys . We had around 100 cranes visit 20180901_102845.jpg 20180901_105048.jpg as well . I'm happy with our results seeing how few birds are around.

Made it out Sunday morning with my wife and son. Great to be out again and shoot some geese. Had ducks all over us. It was fun watching them work.

I thought it was just me wondering where all the geese were!

    I shot doves.

34 degrees this morning sure makes it feel like hunting time.

Saw a few more birds last night on a short drive. Maybe 300 spread out in 6 different feilds.
