Very few options up this way. if he has access to river frontage he might do ok. It is normally a first light hunt around these parts unless it is really cold. few local ducks and maybe an occasional bufflehead. Got to be real die hard hunter to duck hunt this part of Tn.

That's what I thought. How's the grouse hunting?

Another good hunt for East TN again today. Had 1 more green head crippled that got away from us but still a fun day.

The grouse hunting is worse than the duck hunting if that tells you anything. At least with ducks you have the slim chance that a few birds will migrate in. No so with grouse.

Thanks everyone. He and my daughter live on a small farm outside of Elizabethton. He is hooked on trout fishing and learned very quickly but sure wish he could experience some wing shooting. Took him dove hunting this year and he loved it, any other suggestions?

Blue marlin dont know much at all bout that area but there are some guys that post some good results from up that way. They hunt around Douglous and Cherokee. They post some nice pics of blacks and pintails, 2 of my favorites pretty often but I know they do a lot of legwork to find em. P. S. I think they hunt beaver ponds around there quite a bit.

Did anybody get any East TN birds on this weekend's cold front? I noticed a few on Friday and then nothing on Saturday.

We did ok. Killed 2 spoonies, a gwt, a pintail and a mergie on Friday. Saturday killed 4 gadwall and wiffed on some jacks. I didn't hunt Sunday but it probably would have been a good day to be out. Definitely saw a good migration come through, but I scouted this afternoon and it appears those ducks have moved on. I barely saw any
